Weekend At Home

Well we finally had a weekend at home.  We have been running around lately like crazy.  It was nice to be home and enjoy our time in Ankeny.  Saturday morning Paige and I decided to make her a new fleece blanket.  Her old one that I made when I was pregnant with her she has officially grown out of it.  So I had the fleece and just decided Saturday was the day.  Paige helped for about 10 mins but got sick of me telling her she couldn't climb all over it while I was trying to line everything up and cut.  But she did love the final product as you can see from the picture.  She kept wrapping herself all up and yelling WEEE!!!!

The next thing we had to look into was her carseat.  I've noticed lately that she's basically smashed against the front seat with those long legs and her straps are too tight on her as she's too tall.  So I looked up carseat regulations in Iowa, on the Graco website, and of course measured and weighed my daughter.  I found out that my daughter is 39" tall!!!  I could not believe it!  You only have to be 37" to sit in her new seat so we tested it out in town.  As you can tell by the picture she loves it!

Saturday afternoon Rob and Paige played out in the snow.  It was nice outside and we still had some snow before it melted.  They were out there a long time.  She loves her outside time with Daddy.  They were following bunny tracks all over our backyard.

Before they went outside though Paige had her first birthday party.  She was invited by a friend from daycare.  It was a batman themed birthday and the parents went ALL OUT!  Rob and I were able to have 2 hours to ourselves, so we went out to lunch and ran errands.  Paige came home with some really cool stuff from the party, including this batgirl cape that she doesn't ever want to take off.

Saturday I went on another cleaning binge.  I started by working on our closet as we try to transition our clothes out of the baby's closet.  It then turned into a complete cleaning of our room.  Rob just laughed at me.  He knows there is no stopping me once I get started.

I had to share this picture.  Sunday night we were eating dinner and decided to have pasta.  Well ever since Paige has started on table food when we have pasta she takes her shirt off so it doesn't get dirty.  So she was running around the house in her undies and started having a dance party.  She then decided she needed to put on her swimsuit because she doesn't have a leotard.  This is her dancing in the kitchen in her swimsuit.  Rob and I were laughing so hard.

As for a baby update, we're both doing great!  I'll be 26 weeks on Friday.  Time is flying!!  My belly is getting pretty big, but I keep getting told it's all baby.  I've been running around like crazy at work with us moving offices so I'm sure that helps.  I had an appointment today and did my glucose test.  The drink is so gross.  Hopefully I pass and don't have to do the next test.  Work is going really well.  I love my job so much and the people I work with.  So thankful.  Rob is doing really well too.  Work is nuts for him as well.

Friends Over To Play

Well this weekend was not as low key as we were hoping.  But oh well!!  Sunday we had the Sullivan family up to play!  The girls haven't seen each other in a long time and boy did they have fun!!  It was finally nice enough for us to be outside and the kids were so happy.
Paige had so much fun on the swings

Laek being a pirate

Sean swinging

The girls swinging together...they are both getting so big!

Paige decided that she wanted to push Laek

So I went outside after the kids had been out there a minute.  I see Paige starting to climb her rock wall on the swing set.  She has never attempted this nor really shown any interest in it.  I quickly yelled at Rob to watch.  I just stood back and watched her.  She nailed it!!  So was so proud of herself when she made it all the way to the top.  I had her do it again so I could take pictures this time.

After a hard day of playing we decided to go out to eat.  While waiting for dinner the girls watched a little Netflix on Rob's phone.  I thought they were so cute!  So glad to have our friends come up so the kids can play.  Soon Sean will have someone to play with too, though it will take some time for Baby Hartz to catch up to that crazy little dude.

Paige's Room Update...Part 2

So this weekend Rob and I drove to MN and went to IKEA.  We did the drive in a day and it wasn't that bad.  Paige stayed in Newton with Rick and Gail.  She had a blast...how could I tell?  She was so tired all day on Sunday.  Well Rob and I bought quiet a bit of stuff.  We got our new desk for the room downstairs (update to come), we got Paige her own art desk, and a lot of other stuff!

Paige was so excited that she was going to get an art desk like Mommy's that she wanted to set it up at 9:00 Saturday night.  We told her that it was bed time and we would do it in the morning.  So Sunday morning she woke up at 6:15 and was ready to build her desk.  She talked Daddy into it by 6:30 (She's lucky her Daddy was just as excited as she was to set it up.

Here is just the table
Rob and I of course couldn't let her have just a table.  We got her a bunch of cool stuff.  Our hope is that she will grow with this desk and use it for homework or whatever in the future.

At this moment Mom was more excited the Paige...she was hungry and didn't care.

But her and Daddy got in some good coloring that evening
She loves the desk!  Now we just have to clean out that dresser you see in the back of the above picture and we're done with her room!  Next will be to hang some finishing touches in the basement guest room/office and that room is done.  The baby's room is coming along.  We know what we want to do in there and will just be working on our projects.  Our goal is to have most of this done before it gets really nice out.  I want to spend the spring playing with my little girl before things majorly change at our house.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Work is crazy this week as we're moving office buildings.  So I'm doing this update very quickly as I've been asking a million times to updates on her desk.  Have a great week!!  Love you all!

Fruit Basket Upset

So we had a bit of a crazy Sunday.  Rob and I decided we wanted to put up the crib since we decided we weren't going to paint the baby's room.  So we pulled everything from the basement upstairs and started laying it all out.  After a trip to Menard's because we were missing a screw.  Paige and I hit of Target while Daddy was at Menard's and she helped me pick out these super cute sheets for the baby!

Once we got the crib assembled Paige did what she does best....cleaning

Doesn't everyone climb under the crib to make sure it's really clean?
So that would normally be enough for some people.  Not Rob and I.  We're sitting in the baby's room with all the furniture in there and decided it's too cramped.

Rob and I agreed the dresser was just too much for that room.  Plus Paige is older so she deserves the dresser instead of having plastic drawers in her closet.  So what started as a simple we should put the crib up project turned into this.

So we basically did a fruit basket upset with furniture.  Paige now has a dresser in her room.  She'll also be getting an art desk that Rob and I are making her after we go to IKEA this weekend!  I'm so excited for her to get more of a big girl room.  Rob and I are just trying to make a space that when she's sick of us or of her brother she can get away and do what she wants.

So here is what it looks like with the dresser

Love this picture...just Paige enjoying her new space.  She loves it!

Now her toys are in the closet so when we clean her room we can close the door on them.

As for the baby's room?  Well it's so much more spacious then it was before!  We have work to do obviously.  But here is the start.

We are so excited to start putting the baby's room together.  It also requires Rob and I to clean out the closet so maybe the kid could have some clothes in there.  I'll keep everyone updated with any changes we make.  I'm still feeling really good.  My body gets fatigued quicker then I remember from being pregnant with Paige. I just tell Rob it's because I'm hauling a big boy in there.  My belly has grown quiet a bit in the last week.  But I went to the chiropractor on Friday and she told me from what she can tell I'm all belly.  I was on my back and she basically showed me the shape of the baby since he was sideways in my belly.  It was crazy!  Things are going well though.  I forgot to tell everyone we got our c-section date.  Our little man will be joining our family June 4th unless I go into labor before that.  Here is another belly picture!  Love you all!!

22 weeks

Sledding for the First Time!!!

So this weekend we did something Rob and I have been looking forward to for years....WE TOOK PAIGEY SLEDDING!!!  Now this is the 2nd round of snow for Iowa, but the first round it immediately got too cold to be outside.  So when we found out it was going to be decent on Saturday we went to Newton.  Rob's parents have a lot of really good sledding hills.  Paige was a little nervous at first, but she finally got on the sled we were off and running.  Enjoy all of the pictures...I was so glad I brought my camera outside.

Paige's first trip down the hill

Thankfully Daddy carried her back up the hill because there was no way this pregnant mom could do it

Down the hill with Papa

She got more and more brave.  This is her going down the big hill with Daddy

Rick and Rob got an idea to climb this big hill, this is how Paige road up the hill

This was the way she road the rest of the way up

Daddy and Paigey before they went down what they thought was going to be an awesome hill...turned out to not be as good as we thought it would be.
